A man (let's call him Mike) saves another man's (call him Jack) life, but then Jack goes on to murder someone. [description]

Should Mike be arrested and tried as an accomplice to Jack's murder, even if Mike didn't know about Jack's murder plan and would have reacted to stop Jack if Mike knew?

Wouldn't following this line of reason condemn any physician who treated anyone who went on to commit a crime? Taking it a step further, how could this reasoning also be applied to the parents, the grandparents?
I understand your thinking but this seems to focus in so tightly that the perspective is lost. Sort of like the 6 blind men and the elephant.

Mike would not and should not be arrested for anything.

From the description, there is no proof that Mike was behind it at all. I don't think he should be arrested or viewed as a suspect.
